Pod position for night driving

most gauges have an extra wire so when ya flick your lights on they dim a bit so they should be ok

As Aidan said, a lot of gauges come with a wire that is connected to the swith of the lights. Generally the backlight isn't illuminated unless the vehicle lights are switched on.

You see alot of gauges as mentioned above that will either dip or change colour, mine change to red or orange which would be a bit easier on the eye at night, but in all my wisdom I left mine bright white and when mounted on the dash reflect quite well off the windscreen making for interesting night driving :homer:

@ aidan > Thanks will check them out

@ Fro Thanks for that, I had not considered ' reflections ' mainly thinking the eye shuts down the pupil when there is too much glare so this gives less light in your eye which is noticable when night driving.

Yeah it's noticeable if you look at the gauge then back at the road, it's like you've just stared into the headlight of an oncoming car and you cant see :haha:
I think the little peaks you get with gauges could help glare on the windscreen but the overall brightness was my biggest problem!

So Fro where are your pods located ? I am thinking distance to the eye may also be a factor from what you are saying.

got to admit those shadow gauges look awesome!!! all depends on whether you find it pratical when driving, some taller drivers might not like that particular set up.

Assuming they are dimmed alot they look great but as said a tall person may have an issue .
I wonder when you look at the mirror will you wreck your night vision?

I would add what I have since noticed -
Side pillar pods are basically in the zone that oncoming traffic lights are in and flash your eyes . This means if your eye on the right is shut down a little due to the pods you will get less glare from oncoming traffic.

well im really short so they dont bother me at all and at night they are dimmed down to the lowest level and dont bug when i look in the rear view mirror. I only have them that bright to take the pics. but yea the dash board has always been the spot for gauges but again i really was going for somewhere that no one down here has them
