Questionaire: How much boost are you running on your standrd internals?

I am looking to find a benchmark on reliability vs power and I need to know what everyone is running in terms of boost pressure on standard engines. Hopefully i can make up some useful graphs which could help in deciding how much power to run vs life of a standard engine.

From experience and friends the death zone for the standard 4E-FTE seems to be around 1.3-1.4ish bar dependent on engine condition, suffering usually from ringland failure, would love to get all your setups and post up some graphs to show power vs life expectancy results.

This is only applicable to people with standard 4EFTE internal engines, i will split up the data for different turbos.

In particular:

1. What turbo do you have fitted
2. How much boost do you run
3. How long have you been running this level of boost
4. How long before you suffered any internal engine problems, If applicable?
5. Do you know what compression your engine is making over pots 1,2,3,4
6. Current power of car
7. Type of car use, (which ever is greater percentage) Track, Fast Road, Leisure

If your engine failed because you didnt put the supporting mods on i.e ran lean or you just decided to turn the turbo up please dont post as it will mess the results up!

1. CT9 Hybrid
2. 18 - 19psi
3. 5 plus years
4. Approx. 5 years, head eventually lifted and blew headgasket (i put this down to age and wear and tear)
5. No;1,2 and 3 lost nearly all compression, around 20 psi (was suprised to see it still started, let alone run)
6. It was runnin' 170 - 180hp
7. Mainly fast road, couple of track days.

This was on a totally stock engine with supporting mods, only thing failed was headgasket because of age. Pistons, rings and bores were in very good condition, mains bearings and rod shells were in decent condition. Good thread.

5. still believed to be good will edit soon, engine is currently on 58 uk miles
6.200bhp
7. drive like on track 90% of time, oil is changed every 2-3k for millers cfs
stock engine, i will add the standard cooling system/headgasket is 100% not good for speeds of 130mph+
