replacing valve stem oil seals

lads never had one of theses engines open ,what are they like to replace valve stem oil seals? tell me do you have to take off the head to do them ?

yeah the head has to come off lad.

feck!!!! is there no way of doing it with out taking the head off?
like air line down the plug hole ?

yes there is a way of doing them with out taking the head of just turn the crank round til the piston goes down then put some rope in the sparkplug hole fill it full of rope then crank the piston back upwards the rope should compress then it will hold the vales in that clylinder up ,repeat for the same

It's not the ideal way, but it can be done.

i remeber someone when i had my ae86 ,there was a company that did and air line tool that your screwed into the plug hole and attached an airline to and wached a load of air into the cyl meaning the valve was held up that way...

the reason im asking its just to keep the cost down a bit ,by the time u get new belt,headgasket,headbolts,water pump. costs soon add up pretty fast

yea i seen something about that but the rope trick is free ..well unless you have to give " money for old rope " ooo ha ha see what i did there :haha:
