Rim resto

After reading a rim revival thread on here a month or 2 ago from Nippon, I decided I should give it a go. So I decided on Toyota 040 super white. I went with 2pac paint as it gives a much deeper finish and looks nicer in my opinion. Soo 140 quid and lots of elbow grease/sanding later here are the results!

Firstly the rim to start off with -

then filled any scratches in with body filler and sanded back smooth

then gave everything a nice 240grit sand along with a emery pad/scotch pad rub

next was to apply a thick primer -

2 of the wheels primed and flattened for smoothness and key

then comes the 040

Took a while and theres a few minor drips but once its dried out Ill sand back and touch up...but the finish looks mint! I even bought some new wheel nuts to finish it off :haha:

Hope this inspires some other people to do there wheels like Nippons thread inspire me to do mine!

Thanks for looking guys

Thats a good price Lawrence. For 140quid I got 8 litres of 040 paint, the thinners to match and the hardener too as Im doing the whole car. :)

Nice one! Good to see I have inspired someone!

Its all about doing it yourself. Anyone can pay to have work done. Get much more satisfaction from the results when its your own hard work.

i think the same about most jobs, but when it comes to paintwork (unless its a small job) i get a professional to do it. always comes out better and is cheaper.

i refurbed my bike wheels myself and after a year they looked shit again. got them powder coated for almost half the price it cost me to do it first time round and they have lasted twice as long and still look good!
