Roll cages don't kill people at all if you take the right measures, you have just as much chance of wacking your head on the window or door frame with stock seats in an accident.
With a supportive bucket seat, full harnesses and padded roll cage you will be fine. What would you rather do, hit your head on the car frame or window in non supportive seats of hit your head on padding which shouldn't even be possible with the correct seat unless you are seriously spinning through the air at 150mph. I don't mean a layer of felt as padding I mean the proper padding which is really thick. If you have a good bucket and harnesses then your head shouldn't be anywhere near it.
It's a myth that they are dangerous in road cars, only dangerous if you have a stock seat that isn't a bucket and you use the stock seatbelt, this is why they have this myth around them. If you do that then yes you are a wally. If you take the correct measures they are fine, I know that I would rather be in a properly caged car in a crash than a stock one with the right measures in place.
James by our shell It's no more impractical than a Cusco with door bars, you can still use the dash, it is 10 x better than any Cusco bolt, offers far more saftey, far better rigidity in and I've had both so can compare. It's also cheaper than a Cusco with the current YEN rates.
Anyhow cages are fine in road cars unless you don't take the right measures. You either get on with it and use one and reap the structural benefits, or you don't and make do with what you can but let's face Starlets bend like tissue paper with high HP builds :drive:
If this doesn't sell we are building it up next year it's at stupid money:

i was just goin to say the sqame thing
You are talking about a show cage mate. I think he is after the Cusco 6 point cage or similar. Not one of the cheap, shiny, chrome/alloy bolt onto seatbelt mounting point "cages".
Cr (Chrome Molybdenum) Steel
Although popular with some roll cage manufacturers, we do not use Cr in any of our tubular products. This is because the properties of Cr Steel are not considered a particularly suitable as achieving a constant quality is problematic and its ductility is far less effective in deformation than T45.
It cost £661 inc vat and delivery so I cant complain, yes the Carbon rolled steel is cheaper but i wanted the Chromoly cage as it was Cusco Blue looks sick and its lighter.

I'm talking about a rollcage, Cusco do chrome molly cages as well as steel cages, any decent reputable company in the UK will not fabricate you a chrome cage due to the reason's I've already stated.
One of many above listed on UK fabricators sites.
T45 and CDS are used because it is strong but also deforms without fracture on heavy impact.
The reason it's lighter is because the wall thickness of the tube is thinner, chromoly is more rigid than CDS, they're actually the same weight, T45 quite alot lighter. The guy who done my bodywork gets his suppy from safety devices, so I've had a play.
One last think, I'm sure you don't even know the specs of the material used to you have no idea what to expect should anything happen.
Well I disagree with this, people don't realize the dangers. Glass and interior padding is alot softer than steel!
Toby I'm supprised that you are naive enough to think that the majority take the precautions we've both touched upon.
I've seen plenty of photographs around here with:
1) Harnesses on not compatible seats
2) Harnesses secured incorrectly at dangerous angles, we all love spinal compression
3) Poor harnesses, no release
4) Roll cage bars close to head area
5) Roll cages without any padding
Also:
1) Cusco have no idea what setup you have
2) They care about money, not your safety
Should be banned for road cars, unless certain criteria is met. There is no real need.
Luke is a pretty knoledgeable bloke Krissy, he i one of the guys on here that i would actually listen to
