well, 4EFTE tercel is running rich. we just test drove it. and once it warmed up it really started acting up.

any ideas what to look at first here?

well, same with all fueling really.

check all sensors arent broken and are clean,

then check injectors, fuel pump fuel pressure regulator etc.

if its not that then check the ecu is working correctly.

is it standard ecu?

thats the thing. don't know what sensors to check other then map, temp, o2, and tps. those all seem to be good.

i don't have any diag codes. im honestly leaning toward the temp sensor being bad since it starts to bog down once it warms up. but i've tried another temp sensor already, and checked the wires to it

i can't find an o2 sensor to try, i cleaned mine though, hasnt helped. but i would expect a lean/rich code from the o2 sensor, or at least a code that the sensors not working

i don't think its an injector problem, unless the odds are good that all 4 injectors are stuck open. i put new plugs in this morning. drove the car up and down the road twice and the plugs came out black

fuel pressure is fine too. tps seems good, i found a guide here on checking that, though the pics are missing from the guide. and i've tried 2 map sensors

this is BS, somethings wrong with this thing, and i've no idea what. and its not like i can plug the otc scanner into it either. i'm near ready to push it off a cliff

so i found an o2 sensor to try. found a single wire sensor off an 89 S10, no change there.

there was almost nothing coming out of the exhaust when it first started the car, again, once it warmed up, there was smoke.

drove it down the road and back for less than 5 minutes, and it started stalling out again. i'm waiting for another temp sensor to try, im really leaning toward that being the problem

oh dear wat a pain in the ass!

really feel for you mate i no how these things can get you down, but im sure we can all help you out.

it must be some sort of sensor or electronic related fault, because thats strange that its fine pretty much when its cold, no stuttering or anything?

but once it gets hot it buggers up?

it did have a bit of a misfire before. but setting the timing and gapping the plugs properly seems to have sorted that out.

the main thing now is that it really runs rich once it gets hot. like i said, im waiting for a temp sensor to come in and replace that again

nothing seems to change if i unplug any of the sensors while its running, other than map and tps. but if i unplug the o2 sensor, or temp sensor, or air temp sensor, nothing seems to change.

havent tried to unplug the idle air control, but from what i read, problems with that will cause some really wierd idle problems, which, i dont have, at least not bouncing idle or anything of that sort
