running with standard airbox

whats your veiws on this would you say its better than an open filter or not,

It all depends on your aplocation to be honest, In most lightly tuned cases it's better to run a standard airbox with an uprated pannel filter because of the colder air intake tempratures,

what it is ive got bad boost creep so ill be gettin a air box for it to try an stop it an my car will be near standard then apart form blitz exhaust. with standard box an hopfully no creep will i be able to put my hks actuator on an run a stable 0.8 bar?

in theory yes. you may have to restrict the exhaust though

try it with airbox. if you still get excessive creep then thats the only other thing to try

ok will the air box off a 4efe corolla fit, if so ill go get one theres a few in scrap yard not to far away.

if its the same as the one on a 4efe starlet then it will fit. only thing is cold air feed pipe, think the one for the turbos is different to all the others

ah cool, i have filter you can have if your at pod. its a little used but perfectyl ok to start you off with

i wont be at pod mate but thanks anyway ill look for the best standard filter at scrap yard, i hope it sorts my problem out, id port my wastegate but ill leave that for a final option as i dont feel like taking it all off to do it,

oh an is the brass restrictor important for the hks actuator as i never got one with mine when i bought it off someone off here?

Not sure how important, all i know is that it came with mine and was fitted. One of the traders will be able to answer that.

dont worry about it mate, its there to try and reduce pulsing in the inlet getting to the actuator and making it act funny. makes very little difference though mate so i wouldnt worry

cheers mate ive got air box on now an it seems stable. so i mite put my actuator on an start from low an ajust it till i got good boost.

i have noticed that when i had my ct9a it used to creep, but only with a front mounted filter do i get creep with my ct9b

what about drilling holes in the airbox and using an uprated filter?
