Setting up wireless

Does anyone know what the settings should be via http://192.168.1.1/ to allow a open access for both Local/Internet via my router??

I think in the past I must have changed a setting without knowing what I was doing and now it seems to have blocked internet connections from my laptop and my boys PC.. It only allows LOCAL connection..

Any ideas?

what make of router mate?

local connection only could mean a number of things, have you got a solid DSL light on the router for instance? have you changed your username/password recently and not refreshed the router settings?

Its a zyxel Prestige 600 series

Power light - SOLID
LAN 1 - Flashes
WLAN - Solid
DSL - Solid
Internet - Flashes

It used to work fine but TBH I cant remember what it is I changed..

so you can't connect thru either LAN or WLAN? have you accidentally turned on MAC address filtering? can you access the router config page then?

I can access that 192.168.1.1 page no bother.. What the problem is when I want to use my laptop or use the kids PC in the house and connect to my router to gain internet access I cant, only allows LOCAL connection so I must have changed a setting when I was on the 192.168.1.1

Hi there Julien!

Check power savers! Some PCs / especially Laptops have performance/power savers to increase battery life. These features are especially present on Windows Vista - so check on those from Control Panel (if you've Vista).

It may also be dependent on the Router - because sometimes the router does not connect to the NET automatically and so doesn't get an IP!

Try connecting via PC first!

Click start > run > type "cmd" > type "ipconfig /all" (this will pop up any open ports/connections present on the PC) to refresh the IP type "ipconfig /release" then type "ipconfig/renew" - should try to connect automatically - then try connecting to http://www.192.168.1.1/ (which is the default IP for the router).

If this doesn't work - dump the router and get a better one! hehehe :)

It used to work fine but ive went in and changed something months months ago and I am only coming round to now sorting out the wireless issue as kid always wanting onto his pc..
