TD05 vs GT28R

I'm currently in the process of building up a forged 5e - I've got a TD05H ready to go on but i'm considering getting a GT28R from a skyline instead...

The GT28R is roller bearing so should spool quicker, but I'm not sure about which is going to be quicker on full boost.

Does anybody know what sort of power either of these would make on a forged 5e at 1.5 bar (with a decent map and FMIC)? I believe a TD04 should make over 300bhp on this setup although this is just a guesstimate...

I will have quite a large FMIC, fuel pump, injectors, FPR, etc on it aswell.

Thanks

you will be hard pressed to get a td04 to make 300hp on a 5e....even with a hybrid td04
realistic numbers for a td04 is around 250/280bhp

the tdo5 should see you round about 300hp with a good tune and set up

dont the gt28r and rs have horsepower ratings?

i know a guy made 247whp on 18psi on a gt28rs on a 5e,,,so again, it seems possible to get (-/+) 300bhp with this turbo

it will depend on the turbo's specific rating

also consider, bhp estimation varies on different dynos...so that can affect the final numbers you see

Theres a starlet for sale here that was apparantly running over 330 using:
TD05-16G
Wiesco low compression 74.5mm pistons 10cc dished
Msr rods
Speedvision Billet 265 degree cams
Custom spec headwork by ccm
460cc injectors
walbro 255

running on a E-Manage Ultimate.

Is this realistic? or is this going to be stressing the engine too hard to stay reliable?

I'd go for the gt28r, i ran one of these on my clio and it was excellent, gt28r will do around 300bhp.

im pretty much doing what you are doing at the moment i was looking at the gt28rs is better then the r beause it a ball bearing turbo roller bearing isn't as good the fella building the reackons it will be 5000 rpm before the gt28 comes in on the 5e i personaly don't but he is the one with 30 years experance i've heard that
td05 turbos a very slow to spool i think the gt28 would be a savage turbo but you would need head work done like port polish and some big cams

well i no the t28 doesnt hit 1 bar on an sr20 untill 3k rpm so i would imagine 4.5 to 5k on a 5e wouldnt be far off
