This will be worth a fair bit in a few years.

ha, i'd love another one as clean as a whistle, so everytime I go in the garage I would go "man, that is fucking mint", but take it out in the dry. And use my regular glanza for spinning around in.

What I find really funny is how worked up people get over an AE86. When it really comes down to it, it's an old Corolla. It's not like it was even really a performance car when it was new.. what made it popular was its mod-ability, cheap price and performance potential, none of which really apply these days. It's not like it was beautiful, rare, expensive or particularly fast. I can think of better things to put in a bubble.

Go back 10 years and we were paddock bashing these things by the dozen in NZ, had thousands of the things lying around

fair play to the owner. Its his car and he wants it ultra clean.. wish I had somewhere like that to put my Glanza. Its currently under trees dropping leaves, sap and bird shite all over it.

these cars are iconic at this stage here, huge following! the way i see it, if you have the money to buy one, and store it like that, you more than likely have the money to buy a second less clean one for driving! when all the others are gone, this WILL be worth a lot as derek says

The reason this car became famous, was due the Touge runners using them, then it filtered down to evryone, then across to here and Ireland.
Fair play to him, there are loads of cars that are stored like that, Im sure he will make his premium he was after when he sells it..... I think its more of an investment.
You guys have got to think, the person that owns it may 50 and that was his first car or something, evryone surely LOVED there first car.... If my car was something really special, Im sure I would be in the same bubble.... I mean boat :p

I understand that feeling. I hardly ever get to drive my GT. It's currently under a cover and every week it's started 3 times, driven once and cleaned once. Yet, I have no intentions of ever getting rid of it. I keep thinking that in 10-15 years time, if I keep it in excellent condition, I'll be passing whippersnappers and enjoying the "what the hell is that" expressions on their faces :) If I had a bubble and space I would use it, but the car would still be coming out once every two weeks at least for some excercise.

I cant see it being an investment tbh, even if he kept it like that for 10 years and then made 10k profit over the original price which is probably even a too high margin then 10k in 10 years is naff.

it might not be an investment or it might be... who knows :) keep it for 30 years and it could be worth 100k we dont know... look how much SS cameros in original condition go for in the USA and how much they were worth when original. Ultimately the owner probably owns it for the love of the car.

Also agree with Johnny - the ae86 spiritual home is Ireland lol.... remember these flying round the backroads when I was in school.

Twinners were well famous here before anyone knew what touge ment dude believe me.

Maybe, Befor anyone knew what "touge" ment, But trust me, they were big in Japan before they were in Ireland, dont forget that Keiichi Tsuchiya used that car to big drifting up. Intial D was after the drifting had already started, the reason they started getting big in Ireland was for rallying, now theres loads over there.
