thumping noise after 50kmh

i was driving home earlier on the motorway and i eased off at 100kmh and all i could hear was a loud thumping noise.it was constant the whole way home.its noy noticeable at low speed once i go over 60kmh and i come off the accelerator it happens.was told its most likely the bearings on the drive shaft that go into the inner cv cup?can anyone shead some light on this iif they have had any similar experience?thanks
