Turbo timer or Alarm?

Not true.

When I first had my car, it was fitted with an automatic turbo timer that ran the car for the required amount of time after it was switched off. After goosing it, even after driving sensibly for several miles, it still ran the car on the 30 seconds.

As for alarms and timers, buy a Clifford Viper 480EX, it comes with a turbo timer function and you can lock and alarm the car with the timer running. It isn't variable time, but it can be programmed to run for whatever time you want. Mine is set to 90 seconds.

Searched but cant find that alarm mate. I know the Clifford concept 650 MK2 has the TT function

I have the CC650 MKII with the timer. It's awesome, because you dont have to have the turbo timer box on the dash.

:)

Press one button, and it runs on for a minute.

well why do you need one? just drive calmly the last few miles/minutes and it will be ok, personly, needing a turbo timer on your just shows ya drive like a cock, as you know you are coming to a stop soon, just slow down, dont boost, and then turn the car off,

not only does it warent not needing a timer, its saves fuel

its not just to let the turbo cool down its also to allow the RPMs of the turbo to drop while there is oil pressure feeding the turbo, even driving normally the turbo will be spooled up to an extent.
I use my timer, its only set to 10seconds tho because i dont drive "like a cock" id rather have it than not. There is a sayng i like "Dont Assume, it makes an ASS out of U and ME"

As for the alarm I have a Toad one, (fairly basic i think) you cant lock the car with the timer running tho but because its only set to 10s im not very far away when it cuts out.

DEF get an alarm tho man, our little cars are very tempting! :(

Why not just leave you car idling for 10 seconds then before you shut it off, rather than walking away from the car with the engine running?

What monka is saying is you only NEED a timer if you purposely drive the car hard and then just park up and get out without letting it run down.

I wouldn't bother with a timer, its just something else that can go wrong, plus I always leave the car in gear when parked up. :)

chill lads everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Personally I took my turbo timer out when having the alarm fitted as the alarm had a timer feature but to be totally honest I think turbo timers are gimmicks. Remote start on the other hand now thats usefull in the winter :)

alarm for me buddy, people like to try and steal GTs im afraid.
you can get alarms that work with turbo timers, mine doesnt though so i just sit in car for a few mins after parking up and let it cool down a little.

a predator evo alarm with pager, remote start and turbo timer.

I would never have an alarm without a pager after having one with... put the keys beside your bed you will be alerted if anyone goes near your baby!

Timkemp -i had exactly the same problem when looking into an alarm. As Nwimie and other have said get rid of the turbo timer and get a clifford g5 650concept alarm.

I have just bought one for my glanza, and it has everything apart from remote start (didnt see the point) and window closure. But that comes with a turbo timer and a few other extras that i bought for it :)

Best bit of kit ever really impressed with it, and my thought was well i dont want my car getting nicked and i definatley want to deture people from trying to break into my car, so i dont think price should be an issue when buying an alarm for any car.

I looked into different alarms and ive seen the toad a1606 mentioned was looking into this, but i was told toad have now gone bust. So the alarm itself is meant to be ok, but if for any reason something went wrong with it, you wouldnt get a toad replacment part but a viper replacement part which is now the company who have bought out/own toad. As toad arent producing these models anymore, their just selling the remaining stock off their shelfs. I think actually that they only have 3 models remaining.

Anyway hope that helps! :)

I'm really impressed with my alarm and would recommend clifford any day! i know a few people who have them fitted to their cars and havnt heard a bad word said.

Good times!
