Wheel alignment can be done in most known tyre garages and some others local. The price of alignment can vary from £15 plus if going through the books.

Most garages will use what is called "super-tracker". You can get more expensive pieces of equipment however for starlets this is more than capable of setting your alignment correctly. The super tracker adjusts the front toe on the starlet. The rear toe is non adjustable.

Now the setting for the ep82/ep91 front wheel toe is +0,5 however there is tolerances. These are +/- 1 meaning you can go either way and still be withing a correct setting.

Now to get your alignment set correct make sure your garage understand correctly how its done.

Setting the alignment on these cars is done by adjusting the steering arm (drumstick). By undoing the track rod end bolt the bar will be able to turn freely leaving you to adjust. Now with super tracker you have four gauges on the car. The front two read the toe whilst the back toe read where your steering wheel will sit.
You need to have the back to gauges reading the exact same number. To get both this and the front toe at same time its trial and error however very easy to do.

The must do however when tracking a car are as follow:

Check pressures are correct.

This a must not doing so could give incorrect readings.

Check for play in wheels

Again a must no point in tracking a car if ball joint etc are loose as will throw setting off after a short drive.

Leave car running

Probably the most important that not alot of garages do or know. Its a must as when off there will be a small bit off play through the rack. When the vehicle is left on it keeps everything tight I learned this one day the hard way after a rover 200 git the better of me :)

Steering wheel clamp

Unless fitted to keep steering wheel straight the whole alignment process is a waste of time as although you will have the correct toe your steering wheel will be as straight as a roundabout.

Now the alignment is a vital part of your car in terms of handling and should often be checked espically with most known garages offering free alignment checks.

Incorrect alignment will increase poor tyre wear, poor handling and importantly poor fuel consumption.

Most people are upraging the eps suspension now when altering anything suspension you MUST have your alignment checked and corrected if needed. Anything form a ball joint to coilovers will do this.

Hope this clears things up, although im sure there's something missing :)
