just had email back from mines

I am sorry but this is out of production. It is possible it's broken. If
you can refund it, I

recommend you to do so.

I apologize for your inconvenience.

That sounds a little promising, at least you know the ECU is doing something it's supposed to.

Are you sure they are Ultra Violet protected? What do you mean by that matey? The chips can be written to using a special frequency, but leaving it out in the sun would take a fair while!
Your answer....
The yellow sticker is covering the window that allows erasing. You'd have to expose it for days to sunlight to erase it.

I know you have to expose it to a certain intensity to erase it completely, but enough light exposure will corrupt the data. Which sounds like a problem I've had. The ECU was left open in the sun, well Jamaican sun, for about a couple minutes. What happened was that the ECU would function fine for a random time then fail. It was eventually diagnosed with data corruption. If it was blank it the probably wouldn't even start.

They wouldn't put a custom program on it because they wouldn't know what on your car. They'd just load whatever data they had, sticker it back up, and return it to you.
