who can weld my wastegate?

Hey guys

Need my wastegate on TD04 welding shut as will be using an external wastegate.

Ive spoken to a couple of garages about having it done and they say they cant as its 2 different metals.

Now I have seen it done on turbos on here many times.

Anyone know where I can have this done in Essex area?
Or can anyone on here do it for me???

Anywhere should be able to do it tbf mate.

I done mine with a simple MIG welder we use at work for welding steel plates to rotten bangers.

I had mine welded recently. It was done using a high strength cast iron rod (blue). I was literally a 5 minute job.

I know it should be simple but I cant find anyone to do it.

Ive never welded and dont have the equipment otherwise I would do it.

Would be a problem if Dave B was still with us. :(

as i said in text matt, i do it for you mate..
just bring it down to my unit and i do it for you, if ive got the room, you can fit yur whole kit so can lend a hand..

I took the whole arm, hinge and plug off and welded into the port until I filled it completely, It takes a bit more gas and wire, but you can then grind the rear of your filling in the turbo inlet flange ( from mani to turbo the 3 bolt flange ) this allows the gas to flow straight to the ex-wheel, without it trying to even open the waste-gate at all.

Not sure on the results as I have nothing to compare it to ! but the theory and gas flow is sound. IMHO it reduces friction between the air and the exhaust housing. no sharp edges basically.. same theory as all porting work.

also consider dividing the rear of the turbo for better flow. it all adds up in terms of response and lag :) remember these turbo's are mass produced for 2.0l + engines..

no worries, alwas help local starlet owners, unless their stupid lil chavs.lol...
i understand in what your saying bongskag, but i reckon it be a minimal difference, but worth investigating further tho...
