194bhp GTT, lasted 2days

hello, im new to this japanese motor thing, i fancied a change from my french cars :). just bought my first GT turbo few weeks back from a guy off here, sadly broke it big time two days after:(.

melted piston 3+4, wripped headgasket apart and destroyed the bores so not good. The car was runin 194bhp but we discoverd it was runin lean and didnt have suitable management to run this kind of power.

i was racing a mate when it all of a sudden boosted 1.5bar, i backed of instantly, white smoke clouded out the back then she died. shame really but twas fun till it blew.:p:p

if anyone knows of an 4EFTE engine for sale please let me know??

Damm not good to happen to the new owner but this stuff does happen :(

Ppl just whack the boost up, without the supporting mods and without changin necessary things like the standard manifold etc!

Hope you get a new engine in and sorted i believe fensport sell 4efte engines? not 100percent sure tho.

hey mate,

gutted to hear about the car, like kelly said alot of pople just up the boost without the supporting mods.

Check the for sale section, you always find people breaking GT's, you could probably pick up a decent 2nd hand engine there :)

cheers for all the comments. yeh i wuldnt be looking to spend 2K on getting the engine rebuilt, need money for other projects (nissan 300zx engined MK1 escort;)) but thanks for sugestion.

once iv got a new engine and i have put it in think il defntly be screwing the boost down:p

i wouldnt buy an engine from fensport, there well over priced, when i asked them for a price they wanted £800,

try ebay probably best, or search yellow pages and internet for a company that imports jap engines, there is a couple out there.

and welcome to the site mate :)

oh shite bud hope you get it sorted, thats what happed to me 8weeks ago, car jsut spiked to 1.6bar and blew two injectors, the headgasket desintergrated and a aftermarket manifold which took the most damage, the complete joint from the runners had a crack all the way around and runners two and three, sounded like a tractor

the casue of mine was the vaccum pipes running of the turbo to my boost solenoid which blew off causing the spike

i believe my manifold saved my pistons lol as it had no restriction which could have casued piston 3 to crack, AUTOBAHN manifold by the way lol yes it cracked but saved my engine :) royal fail to fallen hero

We don't have any s/hand engines at the moment but we can do a basic rebuild if needed. We have a set of s/hand Ross pistons you can have for cheap, the cylinders can be re-bored to suit (these are 74.5mm), we have TRD gaskets which are reasonably priced and sounds like your bottom end is fine. Has it warped at all? If your good with a spanner you could send the block down to us and get the head skimmed.

Just an option really, otherwise keep an eye out on here for engines, Fenny are around £500.00 and they come up on ebay quite often. S/hand engines are always a risk if you want to run near 200bhp but if your on a budget thats that! :)

hi i spoke to this guy on a personal level as i might have an engine lyin about! so got to make a few calls to see if i still have it!
he said he wants to sell it after its fixed and the car is a tidy thing with alot of mods and he wants in the reigon of 4k which is good but i suggested he gets the engine fixed and runs it std, and sells the after market parts and makes a load more than he would sellin it the way it is! he could prob ask in the reigon of £3500 the way it is with the induction kit and exhaust and some other little bits nothin to major and then sell his after market stuff he could be speakin about 2k on sellin the other parts!

what u guys think he should do????
