looking good one question lad do you position the rings for the 5e or 4e engine?them pistons must not be on rods yet as they dont look to line through in a straight line

1: We position them for the 5E.

2: Rods are on, There's no crank. In the second picture they are actually being rotated from below.

Ok, just a quick update. The owner wasn't happy with the old con-rod bearings. He has therefore opted to purchase a new OEM set. However, these are not readily available on the island so he has to wait for overseas delivery. Once they're here the engine will basically be put back together quickly.

how much boost on the td05 we talkin for this build? for 300whp? i just thought that kinda boost would destroy the internals?

Boost doesn't destroy internals, detonation is a bigger engine killer than anything. You can run as much boost as you like, as long you accept the fact that if you detonate, the motor will go bang in an instant.

From the compressor map you can see that the tdo5-16g peak efficiency (77%) is in the 6psi to 18psi range. This would be the optimum range. However you can run as high as 28psi and still have decent enough efficiency, only a 5% drop off, in performance. On the road the car was able to achieve 7psi by 3000rpm without a proper tune, so I suspect depending on tune we should be able to run between 15psi and 20psi to achieve the goal.

Okay guys, the engine has been put together using the 5E manual specifications. There have been no internal modifications to either head or bottom half. The head is the standard 4E-FTE head, not the 5E-FHE head.

Engine now complete with all factory parts.

Further confirmation that it is indeed a 5E block. The head remains the FTE head and cams.

Moved outside for installation into the Blue bomber.

It goes here.

Installed.

At this point we were stopped by the fact that the gearbox wasn't ready. So there is more to do once we get that back. Despite being a 1990 EP82 it came with an electronic speed sensor requiring modifications to the box for proper operation. That mod resulted in some damage to the case that needed to be fixed.

i dont understand why we can run 300whp here on a stock engine and dout here if we would even make 300whp on a td05-16g

Any project I've been a part of has been made available for public consumption. I have never subscribed to the 'hide it' mentality a few of our tuners seem to. The other fact is that Starlets are pretty much a dead thing over here, so there's little to hide as most of this stuff is basic knowledge.
