What thickness headgasket?

Hopefully I will be running a 18g in the summer on a stock motor, was gonna play it safe and run about 1.1bar until I build a 5e but maybe I could get away with a bit more boost on a good tune?

1.1bar on an 18g is a fair amount of air flow lol, i guess it would be ok, but you would need a decent tune for that let alone anything more! Big old turbo the greddy td05 18g

Yea thats what I mean, will probably be running EMU tuned by Nick Jones, but if I could get away with a bit more on a stock engine, (this thread gives quite a bit of hope) then I would but I dont want it to be unreliable.

i wonder how you know that matey ;)

why do you want such a big laggy turbo lewis ?? its going to be crap compared to your car with a ct9 mate, so laggy!! would of thought td04 would have been more suited

Well I am stuck for choice at the moment tbh mate.

Its either a HRF manifold/ downpipe and GReddy 18g or a SPS TD04 kit.

I want the HRF just for the JDM'ness and rareness of the kit :p

Really dont know what to do tbh, you rekon my ct9 would be better? LOL

yes over the 18g, it would be so laggy it would do my head in.

the hrf manifold is prone to cracking mate, the car mentioned above had that manifold and it had cracks and warped flanges.

the ricky lee manifolds like danes kit are serious manifolds and can fit such a range of turbos on the subaru flange, the hrf manifold just fits greddy 3 bolt flange turbos.

upto you bud :p

I know its a tough choice :p

They are both very closely priced, but the SPS is brand new virtually where as the HRF has 20k kms on it. I suppose if the turbo went on the SPS kit replacements are easy to get but like I said its brand new, Greddy 18g's cant be easy to find or cheap at that matter

Oh well got another week to make my mind up :p lol

ran 1.2 bar on gt3040 with no problems for two years, and the engine is now in a different car for over a year with no problem :)

fair do's just dont know why you would want a turbo that size really, lag city.

always depands what you want from your car. quick acceleration that power puffs out upp in the revs or bit powerless downlow and very good power up in the revs.. and tbh if you keep it on boost and higher revs a laggy tubby would still be better than small one that cannot flow much

its not bad at all if you have final drive to match

you can keep on modding and still the lagy turbo would be better lol :p but again, depands what you want from your car

sorry for off topic but my one hits full boost in between 5500-5800rpm and its daily driven, with mpg 32-38 drivig nicely
