Fuel cut is controlled byt the ECU, usually its got around cheaply by fitting a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and a fuel cut defencer.

How much power has the MR2 got? I would wait for a wet day (dont know how many of them you get there but) to race him mate if you were in any doubt you would beat it lol.

dude, i think he has a very big turbo in the car, i saw him rolling at let say 60Km/h then when he smashed the gas pedal the back of car
began to dance for him, the back of the car went from left to right he had to let go of the gas pedal. i have a cousin who has a caldina GT-T
but he's currently busy modifying the engine...., so i can't ask him to drag with the guy.
