Anyone know if theres a difference between the two?I searched a few threads both on here and a few other sites, concerning this. And i've not found a definitive answer, theres lots of 'i think theyre different' or 'i think theyre the same' but nothing definate n no explanations. Is there anyone who knows for certain they are different and in what way ie material, thickness ? Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, gaz

i put 2 of them on gt's and they blew across the 2 middle cylinders after 3 days both heads were skimmed and pressure tested.. dont know what material.. or size as they would be for a n/a car high compression

the gaskets are the same.

if your having problems your either using shit qaulity gaskets,

or the block is warped,

or your not cleaning the surface properly,

could possibly be ignition timing but doubtful if it's stock motor

If you want to have engine problems in future, listen to ^ members at your peril.

It could be said about all of your posts,if not for other members calling you on bad advice alot of members would be out alot of money.
Their information is correct,by first hand experience from themselves and myself and a host of others.

There are bad gaskets out there, but you get what you pay for, dont expect a €20 gasket to last long.

i think the definitive answer is to either buy a genuine toyota gasket or a decent uprated item.
if you go that route then you have the best chance of it lasting ok.

as others have said, they are the same, but alot of the cheaper aftermarket gaskets are inferior.

most get there gaskets direct from toyota for a turboed engine ,,other wise after market from traders meaning (steel headgaskets)personally id get a turbo h/g from toyota when replacing a headgasket or(after market one):)

cheap doesnt last to long ;)

if you get a payen headgasket it looks identical to the toyota gasket, and is just as good a qaulity, payen is owned by federal mogul who is one of the worlds biggest oe partners

british gaskets doesnt look as nice but works very well, i know cos i have sold a lot of them and had no comebacks,

victor reinz gaskets are also of very high qaulity, they are owned by mahle who is another one of the worlds biggest oe partners,

elring is another good qaulity gasket maker

ajusa is another,

all of the above company's make there gaskets to at least oe specs and most are better than oe and all are significantly6 cheaper than oe,

i dont care where you get your gaskets from, but there is a lot of nay sayers on here who dont actually have much experience and just spout there mouth off.

there the best ones from the top of my head, obviously there is lots of monkey gaskets out there, but you can instantly tell if there cheap and nasty.

cheers guys, thats put my mind at ease, a lot more definate answers rather than random opinions that I've seen in the other threads. The reason I ask is my car is in for it's headgasket atm and I provided them with a head gasket & seals set that I bought off a trader from here. The pack was labeled 4efe, but I thought myself theyd be the same. It was only when they rang me later on saying that they thought the gasket was possibly different to a turbo one that I started worrying myself, especially when mixed with the various opinions from other threads! cheers for clearing things up for me guys!

there must have been another underlying problem there somewhere mate. if you were buying half decent gaskets in the first place there must be a reason why it kept blowing.

Just listen to what i said, the rest have no idea what their talking about.

Get a Toyota HG for $80 and you will have piece of mind that the gasket is right for the job.

no we clearly dont know anything,

other than i have first hand experience and have been a parts advisor for 7 years and specialise in japanes parts for the past 4 years, i clearly dont have a clue.

also if you look at all your previous posts the ammount of bad advise you have given out to members (luckily they have been saved by more experienced members from listening to you) you are hardly in a position to say who and who not to take advice from

and is the copper spray a good idea? and should i O-ring my new block also?
i doupt i will boost more than 1bar

i can get OEM gasket set for R2184 (American $324+-) and wait 21 working days to get it

the victor reinze set is R849 (American $126+-)

i can have my block O-ringed for R160 (American $25+-)
