I have just had the settlement figure back form Admiral in regards to my accident, and this is what they have offered me

Market Value £1,400.00
Less Excess £600
Less Remaining Insurance Premium £476.61
Less Salvage Value £150
Settlement figure £173.29

What should i do as that is disgraceful?

Its a Glanza V which I said was worth min £3500

Reject the quote, and push for more. They do offer silly amounts from what I hear and you just have to fight them out, you want top dollar as no doubt you paid top dollar for your spanking starlet! *Edit* and no doubt the insurance to go with it :)

Take your time no rush while your presumably taking advantage of that poor un-loved courtesy car. :p

Their market value seems poor. Even my auto GT was valued at £2500 when the damage was estimated.

Hit them back with proof of the market value - a few printed ads from Ebay, Pistonheads and Autotrader should get them to rethink matters. Explain that it isn't a bloody Sportif.. ;)

yeh just refuse this! there chancing there arm (god i hate insurance companies!!) as said above print a few ads from the internet, ones from a garage may even be better. if that doesn't work get a solicitor! don't take this lying down whatever you do

When my Sera got written off the offered me £2500. I wrote back telling them this was unfair and detailing the huge ammounts spent on the car (along with recipts), they revised it up to £4250. Still not really enough, I wrote again arguing this was still below market value and also asking they give me a chance to salvage uprated components, this time they didn't revise it upwards but agreed to loan me the wreck until I've stripped it of anything of use. I decided to accept this offer, get the turbo engine in my new Sera and get on with life.
So, it's definitely worth fighting them for more...

The scrap value is because i have bought the car off them in order to sell to you lovely chappies and chappettes on here! i think ill do what you guys say and get ebay/ph/autotrader adverts and send to them.

its taken them weeks to do that and its just really pissed me off! i dont know why they are making me pay the rest of the insurance for it though!

All insurance companies will charge what you owe them, otherwise people could buy insurance and crash it immediately leaving the insurers to pay out thousands for pennies!

Admiral don't insure Glanza's. It isn't on their under writers books. I went through it all trying to insure my old Glanza with them. That settlement value will be being based on the car being a UK starlet sportif or whatever. Hence the Market value.

You wouldn't have been insured properly so I am surprised they are paying out anything at all. Maybe the inspector can't tell a turbo engine from a N/A lol.

what does your insurance certificate state on it if it is not down as a glanza v then you are stuffed mate.if you send in evidence of the market value of a glanza and they pick up on it then they wont pay out anything.:(

X2

Admiral are actually very good when it comes to payouts, I got 6.9k for a car I paid 7k for.

The Admiral group PLC (Bell, Elephant and Admiral) do not insure Glanza V's as Easty pointed out above, they never have and despite what people say "oh i told them its a facelift GT" etc its still not insured correctly. They have recently added Glanza S's onto their books in the past 6 months, so maybe the V will come in the future.

Its stupid! Anybody have any idea why they are taking the rest of the insurance premium off me? £476.61. I pay Monthly if that makes any difference.

Makes no odds, your not buying insurance on a month by month basis your buying a years insurance on finance. Same contract applies.

i thought that with admiral when i seen this thread.

i very much think thats market value for an SR or the likes, and your insurance is actually void.

What happened it i was with them beforehand when i got my Glanza, they called it a starlet gt turbo 'facelift'. took me an age to sort it out! eventually i got it through and all was well, until my accident, first they switched to another car when i asked to add it to my policy, they then switched back n then said the glanza wasnt insured. i explained the Dilemma to them and they said they would honour it as i paid over 1k insurance for a year and a bit. so they know its a glanza, and they are happy it is. so i think they have gone on sportif prices.

So my insurance isnt void. dont worry, i triple checked it to make sure i was alright before actually claiming.
