I see what you've done here, Akki, You said they was changed and hes instantly assumed for all new stuff, which i would also assume. Slightly sneaky but as stated, they was changed so nothing wrong with that.

It also explains his mechanic opening it and seeing used pistons.

note the lack of a number plate, looking at the way the advert was written suggests the car was a fresh import, even though it's been previously owned and registered in the uk before. just wondered why you advertised it like that?

So im assuming the rings were not replaced?
Just taken out of an old engine and put in the engine which has now buggered up?

To me that is daft. And there lies the problem. An "expert" would know not to do this.

And before someone jumps down my throat, No im not having a go at Akki

Yes i did also replace the Head, but then later down the line i found out the HEAD WAS PERFECT:) , as abit of resarch showed me that it was Bought from dave-b.

he probally took number plate of because of people going throw adverts and copying number plates for various reasons

toyota piston rings are designed to not need re-honing (although it is advisable) so i would doubt that would be the problem.

if everything was explained to him as akki states above i really cant see him being in the wrong!

after all how long has akki been a trader on here i very much doubt he would try mug someone off and ruin his rep on the forum!

obviously if thats the case then why? the bore and ring wear on each cylinder is going to be different. putting them in a different block is going to cause problems. (not taking sides)

imo, (not aimed at anyone!) 'sold as seen' is fair enough with a car like this one, but I'm pretty shocked that old pistons+rings were used...

For the profit that was probably made on this car, I'm sure the cost of new parts would have been insignificant.

and thats how private sales work sold as seen its not like a garage with warrenty ...

Guys the thing is the "CAR was running PERFECT"

if there actuualy was a problem then it would have shown with in 200 - 300 miles of me driving her.

if the car wasnt PERFECT - NO WAY on the Place on EARTH would i ever sell a Car thats not READY for the sake of a few ££'s.

sold as seen is fair do's on private sales, but traders should offer some kind of backup on the things they sell, one benefit would be avoiding threads like these.

but the thing is you never know how the cars gonna be treated! for all we know (just a senario) he could of bought a £12 bleed valve off e-bay and wacked the boost up to stupid level. not for one min saying he did just an example.
