At a dead loss

I picked my car up after its rebuild about a week ago. I've done a couple of journeys and now it doesn't start. When i picked it up it struggled to start and was a bit smokey but I put that down to it being sat for so long. I went to start it the other day and it wouldn't start, it seemed like the battery was running flat. I tried jumping it and it'll turn over but not fire up. It is fuelling (you can smell it), I checked the plugs, the gap is correct and each one sparks but still it won't fire up.

When you take the plugs out they are really wet so it may be over fuelling but I don't understand how it started (all be it with a bit of effort) when I picked it up and now it won't.

So to summarise, we've got fuel and sparks but it won't fire up. Any idea's people?

did u move only a short distance before? sounds like fuel flooding to me

happens when bigger injectors are used and not tuned properly!

take out the plugs burn or clean them up to get rid of the fuel and try to start it again, should be ok but i owuld get the cold start fueling checked

Still on stock injectors mate. Plugs removed, cleaned, engine cranked over and plugs refitted. Still nothing.

It wasn't short journeys either, atleast 20 miles.

uprated clutch and head work, check. I'm on the phone to the garage tomorrow. For any future people near oxford I strongly advise against owen Developments. Their people skills are next to none existant and the work they do (which they may do very well on engines they know) is pretty pants imo.

If your plugs are wet, that would indicate you have a problem with your ignition somwhere.
Or your fuel presure is set way to high IF you have a RRFPR.

Check all your earths aswell, could be something simple.

But if not, Take it back to them and get them to sort it.

Spoke to the garage and they guy that built my engine thinks my GReddy plugs are too col a heat range for UK winters and they're not firing properly. He's coming over with a set of NGK plugs and we'll see how we get on from there.

I had the same problem yesterday, went to pick the GTxx up from the guy who does my welding and body work.

Car just wouldn't start and was very hesitant to start even when I took it there two weeks before. Had a suspicsion it was in the MAP.

Managed to tweak water temp / fuel compensation table between 05 and -01c, injector time reduced by almost a mS and the car fired up. Although that was after the plugs were cleaned and dried, it didn't want to start at all before.

As above though, you should take the car back and tell them to sort the MAP out.
