Hey dudes,

I get what your saying, but please don't take this thread as personal to SpeedVision. I have no gripes with him, bought a few things off him and he has replaced parts without hassle, this is not an argument for me.

I simply was looking for advice or tests to determine if the headgasket was leaking or if there is any ways to determine if it is on the way out.

i had a speedvision headgasket on my last build, used it for about 700mile whilst running in the new engine, fitted a ported head and went for a zep one instead, i did compare them both next to eachother and the quality looked identical.. was like an exact copy. also used a light smear of welseal when i fitted them as the coating they come with is very thin and have found by past experience that these metal head gaskets require the block and head to be 100% flat and clean enough to eat your dinner off of. otherwise they can have sealing probs. would def get the head skimmed when fitting one for what its worth.

So, what are the symptoms of a headgasket on it's way out?

Another user has opened up their engine and noticed that their SV HG is fooked :(

I'm sure the user will post details and pictures in due time.

I would rather 'prevent' something from going, than wait for it to go.

Cheers.

And again:

you would burn water creating smoke out of the exhaust, when you lift off the thrittle.

plugs will be wet.

you will be blowing coolant out the rad into the over flow bottle and all over the floor.

idling will also be rough.

and you will get a funny smell from the exhaust.

dont change something thats not broken mate

ok heres my pics there not great and ill take more when i go back to my garage.my engine had done exaclty 4760 KMS scince i build it. it didnt really show any signs of the fact it had gone other than water out the exhuast but the gasket has several layers and the bottom layer has gone on all 4 cynlder gaps and craked all other layers but 1-2 was completly gone

these pics are before i took it off the block i will take some of it completly off too as it shows the layers have broken :

full forged 5e engine ran the engine in on standard head gasket at 1.2 bar then took head off put bigger cams in , so we were going to increase boost aswell so bought speed vision gasket, didnt over heat on standard gasket

A friend of mines speedvision gasket went after one week at one bar of boost. Another one went pretty soon after build without hardly boosting.

Sam no longer offers these gaskets due to quality concerns. Some experienced no issues but some have and so Sam no longer offers these parts.

As these parts are no longer available I am going to close this one out.
