Bare in mind that nobody likes insurance companies and you could probably find negative feedback about pretty much all UK insurers. We must be doing something right through, we have many happy customers and a fantastic renewal retention rate. Also, just to mentioned that we are governed by the FSA, if we were 'over charging' then the FSA would come down on us like a ton of bricks.

If any member feels they have been over charged or is experiencing a problem with my company that PM me and I will give it my full attention. I work on behalf of our affiliated car club and their members and I try and remain as impartial as possible.

Thanks

its proper shit why a cage puts your premium up anyway. after all its a saftey feature

Not if you follow Ollie's FLAWED logic.

Which is;

Fit a roll cage and make a vehicle LESS safe.

You couldn't make it up - could ya!...........................

try following the insurance company's logic
why would someone want a roll cage in their car ?
will they drive faster and more aggressively ?
will they take risks knowing they have a "safety device" ?
will it make the car more attractive to thieves ?

fitting a roll cage IS LESS safe unless you wear a helmet and are harnessed in at all times,
and wearing a helmet and harnesses whilst driving on public roads is quite unsafe !!

OK.

Let me give you all a scenario.

Identical vehicle - Identical Crash.

One WITH roll cage fitted.
One WITHOUT roll cage fitted.

Which one would you prefer?

Apply a little LOGIC to that.

if they are identical it wouldnt matter with or without :p

roll cages are designed for motorsport use
they are designed to protect the interior cell of the car in the event of a roll over, they are not there for side or frontal collision
they intrude into the drivers space, positioning unforgiving steel bars closer to any possible impact with the driver, especially the head
cars are designed to give/crumple when impacted, soaking up the energy of the impact, steel bars are designed to remain rigid
try punching a roll cage, I bet it hurts and the bar will be unscathed, try imagining throwing your unprotected head at it at 30mph !!!
that's why its not safe to drive with a roll cage fitted unless you have a helmet and harness

Yep this whole rollcage debate can go on as long as it wants, its quite simple ... its unsafe. Your body and head gets flung around in a car upon impact, on a passenger side impact crash your head will be flung to the RIGHT ... whats on the right of your head? Rollcage bars! Can you imagine that happening on the temple of your head?

Rollcages are designed with use of padding and a crash helmet! Why do you wear a crash helmet? To protect your head against the Rollcage.

You dont wear a helmet on the road, therefore its unsafe.

Safety is paramount regardless.
I suppose its stupid for forum members to look out for others well being now??

If you dont like the place, dont bother opening up the page. Fairly simple.

I thought the main idea of a roll cage was to stiffen up the entire car and reduce Body Roll and not for if the car rolls over. That's why motorsport roll cages protrude through the bulkhead and into the engine bay. Obviously the strength of it and the way they are built would assist in protecting the driver assuming a helmet/padding is used, but that's not it's main purpose.

clues in the name, roll cage lol, just so happens to provide alot of chassis stifness so modern cages are designed with both in mind
