boost problems!!!

Hmmm...can you describe it a bit better?

So you're going along and hit 5k RPM, boost drops to nothing? Is it just for a split second, or does the boost go -0.5Bar for the rest of the revs? (So 5-6k)

Doesn't sound very fuel cut-esque to me...fuel cut is a sudden and quick intervention; the car will then drive normally a split second afterwards and you can build boost again.

i have this to,and its not fuel cut cause i had fuel cut before, like that guy said fuel cut will nearly threw him through window,
the turbo just die's when u hit 5000rpm,get a very small whistling sound too when it happens

Turbo stall?

maybe the filter is a bad job and ends up restricting the turbo.

Was the actuator arm checked?

Or in rooneys case the wastegate?

Sounds electrical to me,fault code test?

TUT TUT TUT!!

Alot of information given here is wrong.
Personally fuel cut isnt as violent as some people are making out.
Just to say (even if it isnt fuel cut).
It sounds like boost creep resulting in fuel cut. Putting a RRFPR and FCD, will cure the fuel cut, But the boost will still creep..Therefore not fixing your problem

The best thing to do, is to take the turbo off, and have the Wastegate Ported.
This combined with a well matched intake pipe (size wise) should eliminate boost creep.

At 5k going hard it should be pretty violent, the cut your talking about is usally when you ease into it (i.e 5th) but maybe some cars are different.

i get no engine light on,and when u get fuel cut doesnt that light come on

Think so, yeah.

But if it was fuel cut, you should hit it and then be able to continue up the revs and rebuild boost! Also, is it always around 5k?

I'm not giving bad advice, I just don't think its fuel cut - if I'm wrong, fair does!

Some bad rep should be given for trhe first few posts in this thread!!!

Its not fuel cut because I am having the same problem, its boosts to half a bar and then just drops back into vacuum!!!

Checked everything because we removed the hi/low solenoid and thiought it was that, will removed the filter kit now see if it cures it.

Why would the relocation kit CAUSE THIS THOUGH??

restriction, dunno why but that has to be it

I just cant get my head around why, surely the filter kit gives less restriction as thats what it is for?

Must be something to do with the standard boost solenoid, aynone got any pics of the relocation kit fitted witha fmic and the three vac lines removed???

Nope monster relocation!!

Just looking through build threads for what people have done with their stock bosst solenoid, I notice you have/had no pipes going to it (when you did the how 2 on painting your rocker cover) my car wouldnt start when we left them open to atmosphere

You're car wouldn't start?! Hmm...I literally just disconnected them when fitting my HKS actuator and it was fine...don't think I unplugged anything/blocked anything up, can't remember though, was nearly 2 years ago now! lol

But the fact that it drops boost so suddenly/quickly, I thought it would've been a restriction in the intake or something...very odd! :(

Baah gonna rip the relocation kit off and see if it makes a difference with open turbo and those pipes disconnected

Well firstly everyone needs to calm down about the negative rep side of things people are trying to help and if someone says that the boost dies at 5000RPM and the engine management light came on then the first thing your going to suspect is fuel cut especially after reloacting the air filter which will give a chance of creep and then give a chance for fuel cut.
As for the problem that everyone seems to be having seems to be with Monster Motorsports relocation kit, has anyone contacted Mike to see if he is having any problems with the kit??
As for the problem even restriction doesnt sound right to me as if there was a restriction why would it kick it at 5000rpm on 2 different cars? Why dont you try running the turbo just meshed and see what happens instead of just putting the EFI pipe back on??
