THANET ENGINE CENTRE..

Got my crank back last friday , its a top quality job. He even ordered the bearings to suit and they were trade price!
heres the run down :

crank grind x9 journals : 89.90 ( very cheap )
main bearings @ .50mm: 35.05
Big end bearings @ .50mm: 35.50

sub total : 159.65
VAT: :31.93
Total : : 191.58

there we go all the info you need, and there not too far from you. theres not many other places in Kent and believe me I tried. and was quoted 200quid just for the regrind, I would be quite supprised if you could get it cheaper elsewhere and if you do share the knowledge as I have tried doing here .. :)

good luck with your build!

If you wanna built something strong and give it more chence to last then you need to follow the balancing process. You need to balance crank, crank pulley, crank pulley bolt, pressure plate, pressure plate bolts, flywheel, flywheel bolts as a rotating combination. Then you balance the rods (big and small ends) to each other and total weight and then piston /piston pin weight accross all 4. Also you can add virtual weights equal to the combination of piston and rod together to the rotating combination of the crank and do the balancing with the weights.
Someone above said something about enlarge oil ports on the crank. This job is a lot harder and presize than it sounds and need to be done 110% right or else...you get bearings from the sump drain bolt. I have done it and it enlove lot of thing...machinery,knowlege,modification to bearings etc.Oem oil ports are ok for 10000rpm so skip this..it is not nessecary.
Also make sure before you leave the machine shop that all parts are marked so you put them to the rigth place when assemplying the engine.
