buying a glanza tomorrow no log book...

Basically i bought a car on ebay... it had the guys private plates on of daz 5860.

so today he sent away the documents / green slip/ log book to change the car over to the old reg of n261 ncw...

the private reg comes up at a toyota 1.3 on the DVLA website but in BLUE... the car is SILVER......

so basically i was going to get the car tomorrow he said we can wait till weekend for the sale.. .(i reckon papers will take longer than that) he's also sent tax disc to get it xferred over to new reg...

so my query is if i bought the car sans log book what would i need to do to check its not stolen?

the guy will sign me a receipt etc... the guy isnt insured on the car anymore as has a new car. also its at his work locked away so I would be buying it from there...

sounds a little dodgy.... i know but the guy said I can wait till weekend so if he was dodgy surely he'd be pushin the sale?

also i said can i hold back £100 until you bring all the docs around to me... he said yes...

this is the car....

Wait until V5 comes back. Seriously, would you buy a car without a V5 proving ownership, and giving the information for you to check everything ties up?

As for checking it's not stolen, if you want to be 100% sure, do a car check on both plates. You can use a cheap text service for £3.00 (https://www.mytextcheck.com/) or £9.99 for an RAC one that's powered by HPI (http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehicle-checks/car-data-check/).

As for the colour being different, the correct terms for the colour is 'Bluish Silver Metallic', so I wouldn't worry too much about it...

id persoanally stay clear.. not for the reason of the log book more to the reason you could be buying a shed.

quoted by himself : "hks fcd and actuator for turbo moddified to raise boost to 1.1 bar safe at this level costing £150"

not even a mentioned of fuelling never mind mani.

yeh i know. my first step would be to reduce the boost from 1.1 to 0.8 bar. its not safe on standard mani for sure...

re the turbo being boosted to 1.1 bar. i'm gonna replace the manifold with my sps one and bring boost down to .8 bar. i plan to put a hybrid in pretty soon too so even if the turbo's seen better days not really a big deal...

what u think?

car standard is 148bhp i would be suprised if mine isnt at least 170bhp min with the engine mods that have been carried.

(my mates got same exhaust and engine mods but he has a front mount fitted and hes is running 190bhp

sounds like he could be a member on here!! :haha:

Safest way mate is to do a compression test there and then before buying it... that way youl see if the damage has already been done.
