Can anyone help with a Roof repair ?

Hey Guys,

My aint going too well with the S2000 just put the roof down and heard a crack, when i put the roof back up the plastic rear window has cracked in 3 places so now allowing water to enter the cabin !!

How would you guys sort this out ? Surely it does not mean a new roof ? Can it be retrimmed or a new plastic sheet put in ?

Any help would be most helpfull.

I was thinking this too mate i really hope this is the case beacuse i wouldnt of thought you need a brand new roof just because the plastic has cracked.

Ahhh this is all new territory to me just going wrong all at once lol.

u can get new windnow put in them we had it done in work with a street ka not so long ago think it cost 350 tho

Just called and they cannot help :( Have said from their experience it has to be a new roof ! Hope not there must be specialists out there who repair the plastic trims ? A new roof is 700 Pounds lol dont want to go there.

well its windscreen at end of the day, plastic or glass :rolleyes:
Worth try, nothing to loose.
Rang autoglass just enquire how much to replace my rear one on my GT. £1300. quid. WTF!!! :slap:

I used to be a regular on the rover forums www.mr-rover.org

All the mg tf guys would have this problem, and it would mean replacing the whole roof, there was no way to repair it. What they did do was develop ones with a glass screen in the back, might be worth looking on s2k forums?

Unfortunatley other than duck taping it up there isn't a lot you can do!

Agreed matey i will keep searching to see what i can find :( The clutch went on it 2 days after i bought it now the roof. Thought Hondas where supposed to be reliable ! :(. Going through the same phase as the GT when i first bought it lol.

my freind has a mx5 and the rear plastic cracked and she had to buy aa new roof. something to do its all moulded in 2 one sorta fing

Its always the same mate! Always happens on new cars, all the things you couldn't have possibly spotted while taking it for a 20 minute test drive!

Its not the windscreen that has cracked.....
Its the rear plastic window in the soft top...

There is got to be someone that has had this before.
Did you phone the dealer/importer to see what they can do?

You can get a screen from another top an stitch it in, wont look all that neat but will do the job! im thinking of doing the same to the screen on my 5 as it's discoloured!
