Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i was out with my mechanic yesterday getting the clutch changed on my car. Dropped the gearbox out grand, changed the clutch, put it back in, connected everything back up. When i was driving off, i noticed a serious lack in boost and looked at the speedo, and it's stuck at 0 even when im at motorway speeds???? Took the speedo cable back out to make sure it wasn't that causin the trouble. The battery was out for a good 4 hours so i'm guessing that may have messed with the alarm system or something like that. Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks

Double check your speedo cable and also check your speedo converter if you have one, make sure its all threaded in correctly and how it should be, also check that you havent left any pipe's off or anything.

Yup, took the speedo cable out and made sure it was in properly, dont have a speedo converter, all pipes connected exactly as they were before.

Does the ecu have a safe mode or anything like that??

The ecu or any other electrical device wouldn't effect the Speedo, The Starlet/Glanza has a mechanical Speedo

As franza said and also the standard ecu wouldn't stop boosting. check your turbo mate make sure everything is correct there.

you need to go back to basic's mate and just check everything under the bonnet, you may not have worked on the engine side but you might have caught something so just look round and check everything.

check your intercooler piping, make sure you aint left any clamps off or check that all the joints are on correctly and the IC core has no holes etc in it.

you may have knock something by accident. Sounds like you got a boost leak in combination with a broken speedo cable.

Head back to the mechanic mate. Sounds like something is wrong. You have exhausted the stuff you can so now it's up to him to sort it.

I had the same sort of problems when I got a timing belt done a few years back and eventually spent my own time tracing it all to the dumpvalve being plumbed in wrong. When he gave me his bill I gave him my bill for fixing his mistake. They cancelled each other out.
