Hiya folks

Im lookin for some help regards fuelling and idling issues on my mates car....last week we fitted Manifold, decat, HKS actuator, FCD and RRFPR..... we got all this fitted then took it to a local performance car garage to be set up on the rolling road......everything was ok until Saturday night his car started running shit puffing black smoke out and when coming on boost the engine management light came on.....so i thought ok black smoke its overfueling had a look at the RRFPR and it was set at 70psi.....which i wasn't too sure about now the car wont idle at all we fire it up and it cuts straight out......Had a look on here and ppl recommended the fuel to be at 45psi for 1bar of boost so we changed that but still have the problem...Can anyone help??

a friend says it could be a lamba/02 sensor gone down?

Thanks

Well we ran the car and it was cutting so we adjusted it accordingly and now have it set to 8 and has no problem with fuel cut...

oh right i'll try that see if it works.....could it not be the lamba sensor then?? as the car won't stay on it turns over n fires but then cuts out??

Did this "performance car garage" set it up with a wideband? If so, what was the AFR? Because setting 8 on the FCD and near 5Bar fuel pressure will be very rich. You could be flooding the engine? I'd say running overly rich could be the problem - either that or the fuel pressure gauge is inaccurate! I mean, 3Bar on setting 8 had me running low 12's AFR...so god knows what yours would be!

Also, are you sure the FCD is wired in correctly?

If im honest im not too sure this garage knew tbh.....i have changed the fpr down to 45psi which is 3 bar......i wasn't there when it was "set up" its my mates car but he's not on the forums....
Yes i wired in the FCD exaclty to how the diagram shows on here...
It still won't run now we have turned the fuel down thats why im wondering could it have burnt out the lamba sensor and if so would it have this effect? messing up the AF ratio?

the lambda will make no difference. i just replaced mine, but havnt connected it yet and it ran exactly the same as it did with one.

vacuum leak? check the vacuum pipe from the fpr.

i would still try and disconnect the fcd just to make sure its not that causing a problem

The car should start and run without a lambda sensor at all; would just run a bit rough and get rubbish MPG. But the fact it doesn't even start is a bit odd!

As dac has said, take the FCD out completely! I've had running problems with a JAM FCD in the past; car kept spluttering and cutting out! So I'd say take the FCD out and try.

if you do a diagnostic test it should point you in the right direction as to what could be at fault.
