Hi AGA,nice to know some one is doing a bit of infusion,so much better process than the old wet lay ups.Trying to find the right resins in the UK was a nightmare.Im waiting on a sample from a new company who tailored a resin to the spec I wanted. Most had a very long gel time as they were designed for making boat hulls or windmill blades.I have also found a good crystal clear uv resistant gel after trying six others.Nobody has much experience with infusion in the UK yet .
wet layup has nothing to do with the part being carbon or fiberglass. Its about the process and the materials used (prepregs for example)
Hi deetech welcome to the forum. I use vacuum infusion too...
I have used resin from DSM,Reichold and cray valley. All were special order and not generally available in the uk.Found the DSM to be very good but they all have 225kg minimum order. You have to be sure when a barrel costs £900 +vat.Waitin on this new sample to try.Im lucky cause I can do the whole process in house from making mold to 2k clear coating of the finished part.I work for Wrightbus and our composite department are starting to move a lot towards RTM molding.I buy my Vinyl ester tooling gels from them and hopefully if they start with low viscosity resins I may be able to use them as well.
how feasible is it to buy flat skins, to be cut afterwards?
I have an ep91 getting emptied out to be a track car, but i dont like the empty cavities on the doors or the rear quarters.
