has any 1 ever run a charger cooler on there starlet??
thinking of getting 1 as dont want any more lag than standard by running a front mount really and these with a bit of modification will fit ether were the tmic sits or just to the side of engine were the batter sits.
any info would be a big help

Chargecoolers themselves are more efficient that an intercooler, BUT - you will need to cool the water back down i.e via another radiator so you end up with two sets of inefficiencies; one for the CC one for the Rad.

So your overall efficiency will be at BEST the same as an intercooler, and probably likely to be less.

Get a front mount or uprated tmic like one off an old rx7.

Not as efficient. You'll end up with a lot of heat soak.

actually its the opposit as you have a pump constantly pumping water around the core, and rad, the best ones are the pwr chargecoolers i used to run one on my alpine gta and my dad runs the same one on his turbo 2 and his charge temps are 34c on full boost;)

also if you vse the pwr c/c you can reduce the length of the boost circuit:)

If I remember correctly a few folks did play about with chargecoolers but the hassle and costs outweighed the gains in the end. With FMIC's being so available nowadays it seems even less feasible.

That doesn't mean don't do it though mate - if you can work one into the engine bay it'll make you stand out from the crowd. Not a bad thing to see something different every now and again!

and after you've fitted it you can let us know how it works and if it's worth it :p

I was thinking about fitting one as well but as jay said, the guys said the gain aint worth the hassle.

Good luck.

cheers guys, i have managed to get hold of a c/c for £40 so think im gonna give it a go and a high poweref pump and small radiator and spend the next month working out how it all goes together and the best place to fit it, will keep the date coming as it comes together

c/c are ok mate i used to run one on a escort turbo a while back..if you sit about you will suffer heat soak but once yer up and rolling temps will come down the only thing is if yer doing quarter mile stuff you'd ideally sit with yer engine off!!! but as the rest have said you can't beat the efficency of a fmic.
