It's not cutting corners thoug really, you're not paying for HKS's expertise with their FCD, you're paying for the brand. This is probably near identicle on the inside. Dave Burwash builds cheaper engines than Jam or Zep, but that doesn't make his engine inferior.

Its my opinion to be honest, I wouldn't cut corners with some cheap parts like that.

I know a FCD is simple in design, but essentially so is a computer (on a component level - Motherboard, hard disk, DVD drive, RAM, etc), it doesn't mean that I am going to nip down to 'Priceless Computing' in Glasgow and buy one though... I'd prefer the knowledge that the item was designed and built properly.

There is a certain amount of engineering involved in everything, and replica's are rarely as good, its like the knock off SSQV's that are going about. I'd rather pay £70 odd (or whatever) for a HKS FCD once, than £15 on a crap item like that, and end up paying £70 for the HKS one anyway.

As for the engine analogy, I agree to an extent - but there is more to it there (like Zep being based outwith the UK...)

Its a personal choice, but I stick to my opinion

Go for the HKS fcd and an RRFPR setup if you're wanting to keep it cheap and cheerful :)

Better yet, get some sort of electronic management :) (E-manage, SAFC or something) Just an idea

Could buy a SAFC to trim things down BUT if you add up how much a FCD, FPR & SAFC are going to cost I'm pretty sure it won't be too far off a 2nd hand blue eManage. Ofcourse there will be tuning fees to go on top of that but it'll be worth it for both peace of mind and performance gains!

I think everyone has forgotten that our cars require 4 wire FCD's not 3 wire ones which is whats in the eBay ad.

imo, if you buy a HKS one you get a resistor with HKS stamped on it, if you but a cheap one you get a resistor with a different name stamped on it.

:)
