Hi, just had a compression test done,7 months ago I had 155 on all 4 cylinders, this time I had:-

1:- 125
2:- 105
3:- 125
4:- 125

any opinions on what might be wrong with it? also would a manifold gasket being buggered account for the loss of compression?

cylinder 2 is very low something is wrong there, and all the other cylinders seem to be a bit on the low side.

what symptoms are you getting?

well it doesn't sound too healthy, I can't run high boost as at 8-10psi it hesitates, misfires and hits fuel cut.. (no engine light comes on)

I've changed plugs and leads etc.. and this still happens.

you goin forgies?

or just standard rebuild?

when i rebuilt mine to standard it cost me £500, cos i done the work myself.

it still cost you 500 and you done it yourself..oooo shit

yep i done

new pistons
new rings
new headgasket
all the gaskets and seals for the head
all new injector seals
headbolts
timing belt
thermostat
oil filter x 3
i would also recomend a new water pump (i overlooked this when i rebuilt mine)

i didnt machine the bores as mine didnt need doing, and i never replaced the big end bearings as i couldnt be 100% i could get the right ones.

£10 to fit the new pistons to the con-rods, as they are a press fit and need to be done professionally.

i've probably missed bits out, thats all i can remember off the top of my head.

I'd love to have a go at doing it myself, but I just don't have the time :(

i got mine done in 3 weeks.

i didnt want to trust buying a second hand engine, so i had no choice.

toby or dave b engines are definately the best route in my opinion.

and you know its been done right.
