That kind of thing i would risk it. If i had something similer with my pc, i would 1st change all setting on another pc. Reformat the pc and install a better security.

If you use ebay, get the ebay toolbar, it verifies that you visting ebaypaypal are legit sites.

IE is gash - fact!

Firefox, Mozilla yes yes yes all good and a fairly obvious answer...

BUT... anyone using google chrome full time? I know it's just on person's experience here (but i am a heavy user!), it has never once let me down!

As for security Gee's right but as Wallace is so sure he didn't click a phishin link, i think we're safe to blame Bill here? I see a compensation case on the cards ;-) demand the £200 from Microsoft, and an extra £100,000 of inconvenience benefit...

AVG is raved about... but isn't it like all things 'you get what you pay for'... you paid nothing for that, so effectively... you never had your antivirus, OHHHH!!! just kidding, but you get ma drift

Agreed flash is slow on mine too, but we're still in beta so bring on the full release - it will (as usual for google...) wipe out it's competition. It's the most user friendly browser by MILES.

And for the women out there, it's pretty :D lol

Im not saying you did wally - but the key logger could have been on your computer for months (ie: you may have clicked a link 6months ago that granted the software access to your machine) and in that time the logger has been collecting information and you have been unaware until the 'hacker' has acted upon the information he has.

We've all clicked links/popups that we didnt mean to - you've just been seriously unlucky!

You dont have to click on the link for the key logger to get onto your system. They can run on macros that after so many seconds (say when your reading the email) the keylogger is installed.
As for securing your system it is a nightmare to do right and you need to have good computer knowledge.
My suggestion for yourself would be locate a Windows XP Disk along with a version of Linux (you can download this from another system and create a bootable disk) Then format your hard drive and split it into 2 partitions, make one partition 80% of the drive and the other 20% of the drive.
Now install a copy of Windows XP on the 80% and a copy of Linux on the 20%. When completed now your system will be dual booted, use the Windows XP side for all your messing about etc as this is compatiable with most programs etc. And use your Linux to do ALL online banking, paypal, ebay anything were your money is stored.

Other options are keep your security center up to date I would recomend Avast and Superantispyware. Also buy a wireless router as that has a built in firewall. You can also buy hardware firewall to make you more secure (NOT NECCESSARY)haha. Schedule boot scans in Avast as it completes the scan outsid windows.

But really the best option is to dual boot the system. Linux operating system is fantastic, granted there is a bit of work setting it up but when you have it running its great fun. Like what other operating system can you have 20 desktops on a rotating squence:haha::teach:
Good Luck mate never nice to get money stolen.

Thanks for the advice, I agree that AVG is crap now! I downloaded avast and superantispyware, ran super and found loads of spyware that avg hadn't found then ran avast and again found lots of trojans. Then after deleting the viruses the computer completely died and didnt want to run at all.

I think the virus's were activated when avast found them but I've almost got rid of them now after days of trying (I'm on the girlfriends computer again now), I'm not confident of the security of it now though, its like someone breaking into your house and stealing a key then being unsure if there going to come back again.:(
