ahh well why didnt someone just say that earlier... explains quite a bit.

what 60ft times are you guys racing at that doing?
do they lay any kind of track preparation down or sweep the track at race meetings?

cheers

We just sorta turn up and race lol, no preperation, well if there was junk on the strip they'll clear that :p

0-60ft times on Hoosier Drag radials at the 1940s track is 2.0-2.1secs. At the other track same tyres 0-60ft is 2.2-2.3secs

Ive Only ever rased at one track in the UK that of which is York Dragway. This is considered to be on of the worst in the UK, as for knowning the spec of the track i witnessed Europes fastest street leagal time of 9.1 by Andy Forester im sure its been beated now. and also saw Europes fasest FWD cant remember the time that was my Mappers C20let Tigra. So the Track has a history.

Ive not been glued to the site for years like i used to be but im sure theres 2/3 guys beaking 13's on the stock turbo like you said. the only one on the leaderboard is
Alfradio
Tercel Coupe 1989
4efte
Ct9 @ 12psi
Unknown
2.07
13.920

as for the Spec i was running it was gutted cat, 2" full system, rrfpr, FCD, FMIC, relocated airfilter running 15psi.....To be fair there was alot more i could have done so 13's where a posibility.

when i say track prep i mean do they lay down any VHT compound or anything?

2.0 is fairly fAST for a FWD car, im doing 13.2 with those 60fts so you must be loosing time somewhere, you cars a powerhouse !

the only way we cud find this mystery out is to sumhow get a british or irish EP over to malta, jamaica or oz or nz to see how they compare.

I launch with very low boost, think the car dynoed at 220hp with the boost I use. I'm not able to use my full power until 4th gear :( if the track had the VHT I'd prob be able to go full chat from 3rd gear.

None of the tracks over here use VHT

thats the biggest problem spuddy, a propper drag strip should have a rubber surface & they should apply grip juice on qtm events... theres not much point in running slics on tarmac, as its a surface with alot of "spaces" so to speak.. when i ran the 12.5 (60ft of 1.89)i was pushing 22psi on the 18g, was using m/t slicks, fully forged engine, with a good port n polish but stock cams & valves otherwise :) it should do a better time with a new clutch. I think ur biggest problem is the track.

I was running 13.2 upto 13.5 Quite Consistantly with my TD04 set up my 13.03 was a quick run. 400bhp should be 12's even over here!

at york they use a glue on the first 60foot but on a hot day it dosnt seem to make any diffrence.

I like the idea of ecxporting our motors...if my Number come up ill pay for some containors and we will have a ttgt tour lol

That explains alot then. its almost definitely down to the grip levels available.
one of the main reasons my own car does good times for a ct9 is the extreem levels of torque i spent hours trying to extract from the engine/turbo set up experimenting with different carbonations to get the desired levels.

haha i was about to say if i win lotto ill chuck my car in a container and ship it over there to see what times i can do on your tracks. but i think the better way to go would be you guys to come here and have crack on a decent track.

the funny thing is though when a maltese tuning crew go to race at santa pod they always run better times there than on our local track..so it makes me wonder if there are other contributing factors.. mainly their tuners tuning too safe & tuning "circuit style" not for drag... an ep not tuned down a strip will never clock a decent time, perhaps the best thing we have here is the lack of dyno's.. its all about tuning around time slips ;)

thats mainly what im trying to establish here as well.
track conditions at other tracks apart from santa pod sound average at best. but i have heard people say that the pod is a good track, and i have seen a few fwd cars on youtube doing good 60ft times etc there plus it looks like a really good facility. so why is it that we hardly ever see fast times from starlets there... is it that no one from this site races there? is it not accessible easily or to far away? what times have high powered starlets acheived at that track?

The only 2 decent tracks in the UK ar Santa Pod and Sheakspear County Raceway.
Remember you have the track temperature to help, our climate will not heat anything up... :p

For us Scots and Irish, its at minimum of 6 hours to the closer Sheakspear track.
Not worth the while to be fair.

We have to make do with old run ways for tracks. :p

I still reckon my own car is cabable of 12's on either track very easily.

I do hope to make a trip to Santa Pod later in the year. The only thing I need to do i pash my trailer test so I can legally tow a trailer.

0-60ft time I know is a very very important meaurement of how good a run will be, but with my own car there just isn't enough grip in 2nd, or 3rd gear so I'm limited on just how much power can be used. I think a good proper professional drag track surface could go a long way to improving my times.

Santa pod is about 40 minutes from my house i go there a fair bit, iv seen some very good times there, but starlets never run, also if they do there not generally set up for drag, mostly just fast road set ups withy someone having a crack at drag racing. But i know there are a few specific drag starlets being built up at the moment so faster times will hopefully be acheived, I myself once my cars is built will be attacking the 1/4 mile regularly and hopefully il be able to improve the car to a level where i can get some good times.
