glad you got it sorted i just spotted this thread. ive had to do something similar on my gt4 but there was an access hole from inside the car. where the car has been welded make sure the area is clean and get some paint over it to protect it.
I have all the thread taps now which these cars use as ive needed alot of the past few years for things like this. they can get you out of a bad situation easily.
