Great topic! Did I see correctly, the exhaust housings of the CT12 and CT9 are interchangeble and bolt-on? I'm asking because my CT12 died, and instead of paying about a grand to get it refurbed, I'd rather put a CT9 on my 2E-TELU...

no theyre not interchangeable. this kind of ct12 has a triangualr exhaust flange while ct9 has a square ones

this has been done b4 and works very well
make sure its balanced properly and u will see good power from it ;)

Thank for your answer on the exhaust part. Something else, that nut (?) on the turbine wheel looks messed up, is that from getting it balanced or what?

Is it possible to use the bigger ct12 compressor wheel with the smaller turbine wheel from the ct9 and the rest of the ct9 components? Basically I just want the CT12 housing and compressor wheel and the rest to be from the ct9. But Ill do what I have to to make it work.

The smaller turbine wheel would give it faster spool and would make it so I would have to get the housing bored.

Just an idea.

Sorry for reviving this.

Also would like to know what ruggiero06 is asking.

And also regarding what RGM1800 built... It looks like the CT12 has a way bigger exducer on the comp wheel but
has a smallish inducer? So if you look at the ratio between inducer and exducer of CT12 comp wheel it is bigger
than most turbos. For example CT9 is 34mm 48mm and CT12 would be something like 34mm 54mm.
So this means that if you use the build of RGM1800 but fit a bigger comp wheel(as it looks like there should be more space)
It would be nice responsive as the CT12 exhaust wheel should flow better and spool a bigger comp wheel better? As it looks more aggressive to me..

Catch what I am saying?

i have a ct12 as well ,the elbow is the same as the ct12 one u have but not the other end would like to know how much bars your runnin it at and since mine look different is the performance out put different

Complete CT12 turbo with a bored out CT9 exhaust housing.
Water and oil lines do not matter. If they do not fit then you cut the metal pipe and join it with the right rubber pipe.

hi all,

just seen that post and i have just done a little hybrid off my blown turbo with 8 exhaust blades

I have used the ct9 inlet housing and inducer blades, and used the CT12 exhaust wheel (9 bigger blades )and exhaust which is also bigger.

The turbo mounted on my car and notice a big difference on the midrange torque and the top end is a lot better.

Spool time is quite as much same as the original ct9.

.6bar on the original CT9 and .6bar on the hydrid are totally different.
