guys, sorry for my silly question.

i just want some confirmation here. i really understand about low compression and high compression piston which is used in turbocharge and n/a engine. i was using 4efte before and it runs perfectly well until last year the engine was cracked. due to financial problem, i can't repair the engine and the only thing i can do was swapped the 4efte to 4efe because the engine is cheaper and i had used it until today. there were lot of differences between 4efe and 4efte and i realize that my car was lack of power. recently i went to a workshop to service my car and i ask the repairman about my plan to turbocharged my 4efe. i asked the repairman about the cost and i'm kindda shocked when the repairman told me that i can straightly bolt on my old ct9 to this 4efe without changing the piston and such. is this make sense???

thanks.

p/s sorry for my long article. :) cheers

well we had a member his nick was 10sec_rx7 from australia, he had a normal 4efe, with a modded sump (to take the return) & a microtech lt-8s ecu, hes run 19psi on this engine with the td04L for years.. however hes a very experianced tuner, so it varies from person to person..

just an idea :)

thanks for the replies. i've been thinking to get a 5efte engine from the used shop. to turbocharged the current engine will cost a lot more compared swapping the whole engine in malaysia. as been stated, this engine was ran on my citroen ax. other then 4e and 5efte, is there any engine that has similar mounting to fit starlet body? all the mountings on my ax has been modified according to starlet. i dont mind to whether it's runs on n/a or turbocharge.

I don't see why you would have to, I'm about to run 1bar on a K26 on my MX5 with standard pistons.

If you run low boost it should cope, guessing the 4efe runs over 10:1 compression so wouldn't want to put much boost through it!

Yeah I was suprised by the MX5 ones, 9.4:1, the mazdaspeed turbo pistons are 9.5:1 so I should be ok.
