In what sense?
For teh full gear kit?

Just thought id add to this:

The gearkit contains all the shafts, gears, hubs and forks, with the final drive as well, and fits into the original gearboxhousing.
The factory have got a great reputation in creating transmission parts for racecars /rallycars, rallycrosscars, singleamaker cup cars, drift and drag cars/ (Impraza, Evo, AE86, Swift, Fiesta, 911...)

Yes thats right mate.

The way the euro is atm looking at £2800 odd for 1 set, i won't be having 1 just yet need to get a few more parts before i can build my engine and send it off to the machinist.

Yes I spoke with these ppl too, they said however that if any gears are broken they do not replace for 'obvious reasons' they would only sell them to you at low price. Also, the gears withstand up to '350bhp', dunno how they work it out this way as it should really be a measure of load and torque. Thats how we break gears here.. gears engages fine, and when engine is loaded at full boost with slicks on 2nd/3rd gear..'BOOOM' ..gear has no teeth left
In this context, they are for ultimate drag racing

thats true, besides as with all other major dog gear manufacturers (at least the ones I have been in contact) .. they should have lifetime warranty on gears/pinions. you get what you pay for.
If Quaife had to manufacture them at the price mentioned above, someone should start a group buy straightaway!

I was asking in what context, lleaky meant in regards to prices and numbers. :)

Still, i could be interested depending on funds at the time.

would love straight cut gear's

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmJH84FnQa8, would sound awsome on track

straight cut gears would not be much of an upgrade. cheep to produce and sounds cool yea but they dont offer the same strength as helical gears do. with straight cut gears you only have one tooth in contact with another at the same time where as helical gears offer much more contact area and more tooth contact which is much stronger and transfers torque better.

getting a dog gear set would however be to an advantage especially on a track car.

lad who played in goal for a sunday league team i played for had a mk1 golf with new golf engine, bout 450bhp i think, and that had a dogbox. was loudest car ive ever heard by miles. he used in on track a lot, and said the only reason he had a dogbox was cus he had destroyed 3 boxes...and thats the only reason cus apparently on the road he said it was a total pig to drive.

straight cut gears are stronger pal y would they be used in motorsports if they were not stronger and better at transfering power/torque

ill have to have a chat to our mate with the evo see what he says, but ive been in the car and it seems to drive fine with him behind the wheel, just seems a bit of a cunt to put it in to first (massive clunk sounds mint :)) and there after seems like driving a normal car.
