All true.. hence my comment on bravery.. :)
At times, you just need to get home or to the next shop where you can get a proper job done.

I got to discover this at some point when I needed the rig running for a tarmac race event.. and no one had the inboard CVJ boots in stock. We got the closest match / fit, put some beefy t-bolt clamps on them and got to 3rd place against some mad 3,000cc+ competitors in the open category. It was a good day.
Ran those clamps for a long minute after that until the next time I was doing clutch work.. because as they say, if it ain't broke.. don't fix it.. :D
I didn't experience any vibration in my case and they worked super!

It's pretty close to the centre of the rotating assembly, but you may get some slight vibration by using those if you aren't careful.

I would also check clearances, especially at the hub end as the lower ball joint can sit pretty close and it may catch.

I would stick with the proper clips, I've never had issue installing them in position before!?
