Emergency brake seizing

Hey guys. Having a problem with the emergency brake seizing. Cables have been checked and replaced. The top of the rear right caliper, where the spring is is not releasing. So i thought the spring might be at fault. But after examining realized that the lever requires alot of effort to turn either ways. So when the cable pulls it, it remains jammed.

Any ideas on how i could get this freed. Thanks.

The rear calipers suffer a lot from corrosion around the main piston and sliding pins. Especially if one of the seals is punctured and letting in moisture.

Might be time to remove and dismantle the caliper if you have checked all the external parts.

Thanks for the reply. I was figuring that disassembly might have to be done. How difficult is the task or should i take it to a mech.

It's not the most straightforward job in the world but here's a heads up anyway:

You mechanic might be the best man to tackle it - I let a mechanic at mine the first time round and lent a hand so as I knew how to approach them in future.
