Hey guys, my car has developed a rather annoying problem.

Basically the car wont hold idle, it just revs up and down and keeps nearly stalling for no aparant reason. And it also Cuts out everytime im driving and press the brake and clutch pedal to slow to a stop. For example if im doing 60MPH and i brake as if to slow down it cuts straight out and i have to restart it again before i completely stop.

If i leave it idling on my drive it eventually goes up and down that badly that it will cut out.

I dont know if you remember the problems i was having last year, but that was sorted once i fitted the new Idle control valve.

Does anyone Please have any idea what the problem could be as im loosing my rag with it to be honest and im even thinking about selling up because of it. Or is there anyone that could possibly take a look at it for me?

Thanks Guys

Liam

It could be that the throttle position sensor needs reseting quite an easy job I believe, there is a tutorial if you do a search, good luck with your problem!

Reving up and down sounds like a vacuum leak buddy. Have a scan round your intake mani for any hissing noises or sign of air getting out.

If it was a vacuum leak wouldn't it be pulling in? Not having a go just generally interested, i know a few people go round the vac lines and inlet plenum with brake cleaning to try and pinpoint "vac" leaks!

Cheers for the replies guys, car has had a new TPS Sensor new plugs and leads, new dizzy cap and rotor arm new ICV im just at the end of my theather with it to be honest. Its been to specialists like 10times to get all the vacuum checked and all pipes etc checked and cleaned and it just hasnt made any difference :(

Been told it could be a bad earthing problem or my Timing belt could be due for replacment as its slighty stretched and thats why its missing timing when the engine revs suddenly go? Im no mechanic though so i have no idea.
