that 1.8 bottom end can be mated to a 4age head using a porche timing belt, its being done to ae86s comenly now,but it would take a seriour amount of work to fit to a starlet,a lad in england has a 20v 4age in his ep91,had to cut the chassis legs to get it in.

for instance? what are the top few options

This is swap is about serious money and time.
Why not get a 5E...[being sold on the forum already, full engine] and forge it.
And slap a td05 turbo on that and your good for some power.

If a 1.8 bottom end would fit nicely then it would be a good base to start with and with a 4age head and turbocharge that, then we are talking about something.
I have seen a 4age 1.8...n/a in action.Trust me that thing can shift.

Fabricating engine mounts and trying to fit another engine is a major hassle.

as far as i know the 5e is the biggest engine for a streight swap, a better option would be a 3S-GTE engine, or if you want to be super differant a SR16VE N1 engine out of a Pulsar VZR N1 light 1.6l engine with 198bhp as standard.

The sr engine in a starlet would be a travesty :p

In a k10 micra though....project and a half that would be

Ha ha if you want instant power and a great motor who cares what make it is. spend as much on the engine as you would on a 5e turbo and you can realistically get the best part of 350bhp out of it with a good spool up time, as an N/A engine though it's a great engine on par with any Honda V-Tec
