Find it Annoying

i think i worded it wrong. not previous owners of starlets that are the issue its people that dont own a starlet and have no intension of owning one that come on and give their what for. I do find this forum extremely helpful and i enjoy helping others, i have met up with quite a few members in person when they have had problems and helped them fix it. I get the impression that other car forums are not as helpful as this one. i didnt post this to anger people by the way just something i think when they come on i think to myself "y r u on here suggesting rediculous things when u have no experience with the car.

I think those people you are speaking of would be a tiny minority of our overall user base so its not an issue.

I found TGTT many years ago when I wanted to buy a Glanza but did not know where to start. I joined a couple of local Irish modified car sites and their attitude was terrible, really terrible. When I asked if anyone had any pointers on what to look out for etc they replied "dont bother they are shit cars" and similar rubbish.

Now compare that to the response I got when I found this site. For all the moaning we do about TGTT there is a reason we all stick around here and the reason is the people. I actually think it speaks volumes about our community that people with non-toyotas come on here and ask questions because they have heard about the quick response and friendly people.

Rather than feeling negative toward them you should pat yourself and every one of our other members on the back for building the community reputation we have out there.

:)

they stay because through out their ownership of a starlet they may found this forum really helpful (and it really is) so for me its not a prob to have these guys around us for as long as they want :) welcome to everybody on here

Many times i have seen people ask about other cars on here and the reply is usually what you got dyl, 'its shit coz its french etc' so its not that far off, but dont get me wrong it is an awesome site.

Also hardcoredeep doesnt post so much due to the repititon of the same threads over n over again.

This is home.

I only owned a Starlet for two years but who says I won't buy another. Parts for my GTti are becoming very rare and it's only a matter of time before I will be forced to go with the next best thing (Haha).

It doesn't bother me when people post up their other cars, Toyota or non Toyota, it just shows we're an open and welcoming community with a large crowd.

I just think he means that he finds it strange as to why there is so much talk about other cars on this forum when on most other forums you usually see little to no other talk about other cars. Fair point. It is true. But it should'nt bother you dude.

Also, SXOC is an awesome place, and for whoever said that it is not as helpful as this site is wrong. It is everybit as friendly, helpful and resourceful as this one.

I'm still here, been over a year since I sold mine. Great site, met a lot of good people on this site. Have had people I've never met before being really helpful and offering to spend their time helping me. Forums with people like that are rare.

In short i use this forum because the people are wicked and even though i don't own a starlet anymore i can still get technical advice here which is hard to obtain from other forums that are less active/friendly!

Its possibly hard to find another community like this, where you can get techy info from members easily.

Ill help out on any other marques where i can, i personally think its a bit narrow minded what you have said.

Thats my opinion on it anyway.

x2......i ask questions about my cupra on here all the time, although i do own a glanza aswell. it's mainly because i got more help on here about my seat than i did on 1 particular seat forum.
