Insurance companies are not allowed discriminate based upon age, this is to stop them cherry picking the customers they wish to make huge amounts of money from and leaving everyone else without insurance.
Next time you are told "we dont insure under 21's" ask them for that statement in writing and suddenly their attitudes will change.
They are obliged to quote you... the quote you get might be huge but they have to give you a quote... they are not allowed discriminate... discrimination is being tollerated in Ireland less and less these days... very Irish indeed.

it just fucks me off that HARDLY ANY companies will give me a solid quote on a glanza v.
the only company that said they would do it was quinn but i had to be 21.
i can only find 1 other that is sky but they said im too young for fully comp aswell which is a pain in the ass.
i would happily pay around 2000 as im not exactly poor and tbh i dont do drugs so i save it quickly neway lol.
my insurance is due soon and its gonna be a right bloody polava like usual.
all the threads on here that say do glanza insurance 9/10 of them dont even list them, only list a gt turbo!
everytime i ask them if they will insure it on that model and change it to glanza all say no to me?!?! i dont get it

You can definitly get insured if your under 21 on a declared gt/ glanza whether its an import r not. I know this bcos I am 20 and have a quote saved in quinns system waitin to be activated as soon as the gt is here (in 10 days) Not sure why companies are telling you they wont insure you unless your 21! That never happened to me so far! Have you guys tried gettin yur parents to ring up and say " Im lookin for a quote for my son on his own policy etc"?!!
Also one other thing, i know for a fact that o mahony boylan insurers here in cork will insure you if under 21. Ring up and ask for callum, ok? hes sound, will def help ya out. How do I know this? well was tryin to get insured on a pug 106 gti, no one wud touch me (not even quinn) rang o mahonys an they said no bother ( then i bought the gt instead an the rest is history!!)
Guys, dnt settle for this shite from ins companys! Get yur parents on the case. Be real forceful and haggle!!

I think the law may be different in the UK dude. In Ireland they HAVE to give you a quote. As mentioned abovve it is to stop insurance companies simply picking people with low risk and not insuring younger drivers... I really pity younger drivers sometimes.
My first insurance was a nightmare. I called around everywhere and the quotes on a 1.1LTR 106 were huge roughly €3000. I then called FBD insurance and this girl took my details and said "your quote will be €1100" I immediately asked her to fax it to me and she did.
An hour later I arrived at their office with a cheque and the relevant documents and they said they screwed the quote up and my proper quote should be €3100. I refused to leave and asked for a manager. After about an hour a guy came down and told me as a goodwill gesture they would drop €200 off my quote... I wouldnt back down and a big queue was forming at the desk with other people waiting to be served.
I kept wwaving the fax in front of them and I was turning around to the people in the queue and saying "sorry about the hold up but they wont give me my insurance for what they quoted me and Im not moving until they do"
Eventually they gave in and gave it to me for €1100...

thats it they can do it for watever they like, the only reason i got insurance on my glanza the firsttime round was because the girl quoted me on it by accident, when i phoned up to take it out they told me they couldnt because i was under 21.. ermm well i wasnt taking that,
but tis come to renewal time and its just too much this time round, but i cant get a decent quote from any1else.
if anybody has a list of TRUE glanza insurers that ACTUALLY do insure glanzas, not under gt's but as a glanza lol then please pm me or put it in the thread

Now we all know thats bs as they rate gt's as a lower risk. Gt's are faster, lighter and perform very poorly in crashs when compared to their heavier sister (glanza).

ya, fair enuf. Have you tried some of the tgtt offer places like sky? Would either of your parents go as no 1 driver an put you down as named driver. I know it wouldent help build your ncb but at least it wud b legal an you'd b insured!

thats the problem i havent found anyone thatll quote me by myself, ive been a named driver since last year.
im gonna have a real try on friday ( im 19 on thursday ) so that might help

it just amazes me how gt's are pretty easy to insure, when glanzas are the complete opposite! all for wat lol?

Ya, its a joke! All the websites ive looked up bout this say the 1332cc is diesel an the majority of gt's are 1331cc petrol which accordin to quinn don't exist!
My gt will be insured as "1300cc gt turbo". When you ring them up there all just lumped into one category: GT turbos
