yeah, so you are saying when the thought about the budget they knew exactly how much fuel was going to be?

no, quite simply at the moment they are getting more money than they budgeted for, so they dont have to take it from anywhere else

I dont think many people have looked into what the Tax rate is as to why they dont put more blame on that for the high prices.

Absolutely right, the duty is ridiculas, especially now prices are so high.

The only problem is the Government get a lot of money for it so if they cut back on it where is that extra money going to come from? They will just put tax up on other things.

mate ive just shown its extra money from us that he never budgeted for. he didnt know the oil price would go up so he didnt know he would get that extra 4.5p.

Fuel duty is a set limit, not a percentage. The only tax that the government make a percentage on is VAT.

Exactly wouldnt be too bad if it was just fuel alone. The cost of living is terrifying. The gas and electric has more than doubled in the last yr or so yet my wage hasnt? Every week prices on things like bread, milk etc go up at tesco 1 pence here 2 pence there but it all is adding up!

I agree with sam, your have no place to even comment on the state of this country.. you dont even vote!

But yes i agree with most stuff that was said, except the lib dems part.. but this place is turning into a right nightmare!.. Next people are going to be stealing cars just to syphon the petrol out of them.. and then the goverment is going to tighten the nose on petrol .. The power is unfortunatly with them, while they drive around in there fuel drinking bentlys!

I may not vote but I can voice my opinion on what I want. I am pretty sure that most people on this thread probably dont vote!

The reason I dont vote, is because I dont know who is best to vote for!! I dont see one party that can offer anything thats good for this country. And alot of people feel the same way.

You need to do some reading then, you can't complain about any policy if you don't vote. I voted against Labour, therefore I can complain, I tried to get them out.

all the partys are the same neway all robbing bastards lol.

whoever is voted in itll all be the same.

drastic action needs to be taken otherwise this will be called "migrland"

fuel prices going up has nothing to do with the goverment, only the petrol companys like shell etc have to raise there prices.

the goverment dont need to add more tax but they decide to as its there best money maker!

talk about bleed the country dry

The idea is to vote for the robbing bastard that affects your life less.

ill vote for the greenpeace party then.

im afraid the 3 main parties will all fuck our lives up in 1 way or another mate,

cant amagine one party coming in and saying "hey, we'll get rid of all our extra money on fuel costs just to make yo happy".

where will they get all the extra money for bombs and planes?

I never suggested that they would, but they all differ in policy, so you pick the one that affects you least. One could reduce fuel duty and whack it of cigarettes, I would go for that as I don't smoke. It aint gonna happen but it's just an example.

i do see wat you mean sam,

but its all alot of "ill do this, ill do that" but when it gets down to it they dont ever do shit?

look at what labour promised for the last 10 years.

i think they achieved like 1 or there main 10 goals lol
