gear box ratios for drag racing

do you know what is the most durable box that fits to the 4efte
The one it comes with.

4.3 final would be useless for drag racing as it would closen up all the gears. You want longer (lower numbered) not shorter (higher numbered). There is no longer Toyota final drive than the 3.7, that's why it can hit 180mph on the stock gearing with enough power.

the C60 is a six speed, gears won't fit. The triple digit gearboxes are for low powered NA applications.

I so want a 4.3 final drive
Is this really so hard to get in your country. Its on every 4AGE C-series of which they literally made a million of them. The rare one is the 4.01 from the Levins with a FE motor. That I had to get new from the dealer. I was able to get the complete 4.3 gearbox for less than half the price of the same final new from the local dealer. That's how easy it was to get here a while back when i did it.

Do you think it can hold up 400bhp?

There are people here running 300+whp daily, people dragging with near 400whp once a month, and two cars I know running stock gearboxes over the 414whp mark.

Yes I think it can handle 400bhp, then again the way some people drive they can break anything.

well, I have been asking at all backyard and used parts seller for a year and half. I guess it tells how hard it is to get it here :(

i only have small power compared to most lads on this site 210bhp, and iv gone through 3 gear boxes in my glanza had it 8months and on the 2nd one in my turbo boxy(which isnt for da road, and hasnt even been raced yet)ha.. any way billybob i heard that the standard gearbox out of a boxy starlet is da best for drag racing when it comes to turbos cos of its long ratios, dunno if there is any truth to this, but worth a try.

I am using a 4 speed at the moment and don't know if I want to change as it feels like something special is going on with my car
because it really feels like flying! hahaha!

You using an fte? What kind of rpm are you doing at 60-70mph?

Yes fte. 1st 70km/h 2nd 130kmph 3rd 170-180km/h
1st and 2nd is at 8000rpm 3rd don't know.
These speeds were tested with my 2E
limiter was set on 6500 for the fte but pulled real strong! think 1st gear gets just more than 60km/h, think I have a video in the chill section under 0-100km/h
when I hit 3rd I started to get scared of it! haha

But as I see info that says ratios for the GT box and mine are identical....
so I am thinking of checking the dif ratio on my 4spd
might be a killer combo to use 4spd dif in 5spd :D

whats the best final drive to use in a 220bhp - 250bhp gt for drag?

or would it be better to get the C56 3rd and 4th gears installed in the standard C52 box?

I am thinking about getting the 4.1 FD but i read somewhere that you can also get a 4.058 FD. I cant find the link but i am curious to know if its possible and how it would affect my times

thanks

I've only tried the 4.3 and the standard 3.7 ones, I had too much power for the 4.3 and had wheelspin from leaving the start line to crossing the finish line, top speed was in around 135-140mph.

Personally if it was me I'd stick with what you got and throw some 13" or 14" rims on the front.

I try drive on drag with c160 6mt gearbox, but i have more 300hp and this was funny :)) start on second gear, but its no resulted, too many gears must change too many time loosing. tire advan ad07.
on this summer, return to stock c50 (ep82) gearbox want try start from second gear , or increase tire size.
