Gear Selectors Plastic Piece

Ok do u no the small plastic piece on the gear selector, there is a lot of play in the selector with it the plastic is wore, would it cause it to grind slightly in 2nd and 3rd, if u take your time shifting it wont grind, its a gearbox i got from a mate i got it for nothing, my last one was fucked.

I've never noticed it making a huge difference but it might be worth replacing mate.

Sound, i will swap it over from the oil box tomorrow i done enough today

its an easy job earlier models were made of metal and later ones were plastic i done it to mine and it didnt make a difference tbh..

gearbox grinding is the baulk rings in the gearbox they are supposed to slow the geardown enough for the teeth to line up as u select the gear as these fade over time they grip less so they dont slow the gear down quick enough causing the grinding noise thats why if u change gear slowly u dont get the grind

I got the box for nothing it will do me for a while sure, something fell apart in my good one after i did the clutch
